Steve Beuerlein played quarterback at the highest level, completing a career in 2003 that included a passing title, post season awards, 147 touchdowns and over 24,000 yards passing. Of course, it also included a few hits from defenders. When he retired, he thought the pain inflicted during the season would go away and he could be a normal active father and business man. Unfortunately, his hip pain worsened. “My kids were frustrated that their father, who was playing professionally just a couple of years ago, could no longer even kick the soccer ball with them. My wife had to deal with my lack of sleep issues and how that affected my overall attitude. My quality of life had deteriorated to the point where I was just trying to get from point A to point B with as little discomfort as possible. “My surgeon explained to me that because of my age, my lifestyle, my bone density and the fact that I am male, I was an ideal candidate. The results were extremely impressive! The final factor for me was that I really liked the idea of preserving the neck of my femur because no matter what I chose, there is a chance that I will need another procedure done 15-20 years down the line. It made sense to me that the femur would be stronger at that point if it had not been violated previously. “In the 6+ months since I had the BIRMINGHAM HIP, I have my life back! I am able to play with my kids, play golf and sleep again. Most importantly, my wife says I am happy again. She feels like she has her husband back and our 4 kids have their dad back!” Individual results may vary. |
